Christmas Message 2025p. Bishop Bryan Bayda, CSsR
As the darkness of long winter nights deepens, our hearts and minds turn to Bethlehem, the place where the profound mystery of our faith is revealed: the infinite God humbly takes on human nature for our salvation.
In this Christmas message, Bryan Bayda, Eparch of Toronto and Eastern Canada, invites us to reflect on the paradox of Christmas: the Eternal God is born in time, the Creator takes on the flesh of creation, and Divine Love chooses to be with us — especially in the midst of fear, suffering, and brokenness.
Against the backdrop of war, forced displacement, and global instability —particularly the pain experienced by Ukraine — this message proclaims a hope that cannot be extinguished. Like the star of Bethlehem shining in the darkness, the light of Christ is stronger than war, injustice, and death.
In this Jubilee Year, Bishop Bryan calls us to be living witnesses to Christ, who is born among us:
to be a refuge for the displaced, the lonely, and the wounded;
to be a voice of peace, prayer, and healing;
to remain steadfast in faith, cherish traditions, and spread the joyful news of Christmas.
May the newborn Christ grant strength, perseverance, humility before God, and peace to every heart, every family, and every nation.
Christ is born! Let us glorify Him!
