Three Patriarchal Commissions of the UGCC Begin Developing the Concept for Teenagers' Day

In accordance with the resolution of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, held from June 30 to July 10, 2026, at the Marian Spiritual Centre in Zarvanytsia, representatives of three Patriarchal Commissions gathered for a working meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to begin developing the concept of the Church-wide Day of the Teenager and to discuss possible formats for its celebration.

The Synod resolved to establish an annual Church-wide Day of the Teenager on September 17, the feast of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia. It also entrusted the Patriarchal Commission for Youth, in cooperation with the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission, the Patriarchal Commission for Family and Laity, and the Pastoral Council of the UGCC, with developing the concept for this initiative.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Patriarchal Commission for Youth, led by Bishop Bryan Bayda; the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission, led by Bishop Mykhailo Kvjatkovskyy; and the Patriarchal Commission for Family and Laity, led by Bishop Arkadiy Trochanovskyy, together with their respective commission teams.

During the meeting, participants discussed the first proposals for the concept of the Day of the Teenager, possible formats for its celebration, as well as the development of teenage ministry, family-style camps, spiritual accompaniment, healthy relationships, and creating a safe environment where teenagers can grow in faith and responsibility.

The meeting marked the first step in the joint implementation of the Synod's decision and in the development of a comprehensive concept for the Day of the Teenager.
